Capturing the freedom, movement and energy of nature, my art is a personal response to the landscape.
Inspiration is provided by daily walks, where fleeting and transient impressions are noted in my sketchbooks.
The rhythm and drama of changing weather patterns, the intricate textures of organic growth, dancing tree forms and distant horizons all find their way into my art.
Certain spaces hold meaning for me and their intimacy and ambience give me a feeling of presence which heightens the senses. It is the memory of this experience I tap into whilst creating. This in turn, becomes an intrinsic part of the artmaking process.
A love of colour, line and the inherent beauty of accidental marks and expressive brushstrokes all play a part in translating the unique beauty and atmosphere of a particular time and place.
The outcomes are semi-abstract prints and paintings in a range of media, including oils, acrylics, and inks.
